Well known for its liberal arts based curricula and academic research, University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has initiated the first-ever, comprehensive campus sustainability program in Bangladesh titled ‘Greening ULAB’. Greening ULAB is part of ULAB’s commitment to instilling socio-environmental values to its students, administration, faculty members and to the broader community. The program aims to make the operation of the university more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
On Thursday, June 26, 2014, the program on Greening ULAB was officially launched. The day was marked with the official launching of paper recycling program with Bashundhara Paper Mill. The university handed over the first consignment of an approximate of two metric tons of papers and paper materials to the mill for recycling.
The Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) of ULAB is implementing the program with active participation of students, faculty members and administration. In April, the action plan of Greening ULAB was presented at the 1st Regional Conference on Campus Sustainability in Malaysia where ULAB received international accolades, especially for its programs on energy conservation and waste recycling.
