ULAB Debating Club organized ULAB Vox 1.0

ULAB Debating Club successfully organized ULAB Vox 1.0 which took place from 2-3 November, 2018 where more than 140 debaters enrolled and gave their best to clinch the ultimate prize. Being the first timers in organizing a competition of such format, ULAB did exceedingly well in hosting the event where it was an Inter University Debate Competition and 23 universities participated altogether with total of 28 teams including the hosts. It was a perfect platform for debaters to showcase their debating skills in front of other competitors and adjudicators. The 2-day competition took place at ULAB Permanent Campus and EMK Center simultaneously where British Parliamentary format were supervened. The competition was supported by EMK Center and ULAB MUN worked as the Strategic partner. Day-1 ended with cultural performances and dinner for the debaters.

12 out of 28 teams progressed to Day-2 of the event where they debated in both Open and Novice category to claim the winners. Different universities gave their best effort, until finally IBA-DU won the competition in the Open Category and IBU-JU won in the Novice Category, with remarkable judges’ score and outstanding performances. Closing ceremony followed afterwards where Dean of School of Business Mr. Imran Rahman were present along with Director of EMK Center Naveed Akbar before Vote of Thanks were given towards the participants and guests by the Convener of the event, Farzand Ahmed Chowdhury. Presence of Club Adviser Towhidul Islam Khan throughout the event and his collaboration with the organizers ensured the competition run smoothly and the hospitality of debaters was at top notch.
