Shaheen Ara

Assistant Professor


Ms. Shaheen Ara has 16 years’ experience in teaching literature and language to undergraduate students at BRAC University, Presidency University & ULAB. She also taught BRAC employees at BRAC Center and designed new English language courses at both BRAC & ULAB. Ms. Ara is currently working at ULAB’s Center for Language Studies (CLS) as Assistant Professor, engaged in teaching and designing English language courses. Apart from teaching she was also an Advisor to ULAB Shangskriti Shangsad for three years and currently is responsible for organizing all cultural events at CLS.

Research & Awards

  • Presented Importance of an Appropriate English Education System at the primary level in Bangladesh at the 2nd International ELT Conference on The 21st Century Classroom: Directions, Issues and Changes, University of Liberal Arts in August, 2014.
  • Presented Different Strokes for Little Folks- the Need for Different Methodology for Primary English Education in Bangladesh in August 2009 at the 7th International Asia TEFL conference in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Presented Use of Songs, Rhymes and Games in Teaching English to Young Learners in Bangladeshi Context at the 4th BELTA International Conference in September 2007.
