Introduction
The mission of the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) is not only to seek to impart relevant and up-to-date knowledge to our students, but also be a creator of knowledge. Critical to this desire is the promotion of a research culture, whereby Faculty members see research as important to their teaching and career prospects. With this in mind, ULAB has created an Academic Research Committee and produced guidelines for research.
The purpose of the Faculty Research Manual is to provide you with guidelines on how to write a research proposal. It does this by defining the terms you will encounter frequently in your research activity and by providing you with a step-by-step guide on how to prepare a research submission of acceptable standards. It attempts to cover all the necessary steps required and at the same time provide suggestions on how to achieve those steps. An example of a good research proposal is also included in the manual, along with some guidelines on writing in clear English, and a section on useful sites that may assist you in your preparation of the submission.
ULAB not only wants to support you in conducting your research, but the university also aims to improve its research profile by creating a cadre of trained and active researchers.
The Research Committee will support your research efforts, by:
• Oversight of the disbursement of research funds; and
• Guidance on ethical standards necessary to conduct research under the ULAB banner.
