The Department of English and Humanities at ULAB organized the second DEH Scholars Program workshop on “Write Right: Mastering Academic Writing Mechanics” exclusively for the SP students on April 25, 2024 at the permanent campus. Ms. Arifa Ghani Rahman, Head of the Department of English and Humanities, conducted the workshop with the aim of guiding the SP students to improve their writing skills for research.

During the presentation, the facilitator shared her unique perspectives on the significance of research and studies in the field of English language and literature. In addition to that, she discussed the opportunities available to the students who are participating in the Scholars Program and the ways in which they can benefit from it.

In addition, Ms. Rahman detailed the most typical errors that occur in research and offered advice on how to avoid making them. In addition, she discussed the significance of language, including the need to avoid redundancy and write in a concise manner, both of which can have an effect on the readers. She provided examples of the various ways in which academic writers overlook specific issues including mixing of spellings, inconsistencies in punctuation and capitalization, using blanket statements, and mixing formatting styles.

The session ended with a brief question and answer session with the students. Dr. Md. Mahadhi Hasan, Assistant Professor and Advisor to the Scholars Program, and Mr. Sheikh Nahiyan, Lecturer, Department of English and Humanities (DEH), were also present at the workshop.
