Farhana Zamil Tinny, PhD

Dr. Farhana Zamil Tinny is a multidisciplinary scholar and communication professional with over a decade of experience bridging academia, qualitative research, public relations, advertising, and media production. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ), integrating industry experience and academic scholarship in her teaching.

She has previously taught a range of courses, including academic writing, media planning, advertising, and public speaking at Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia. Her industry portfolio includes copywriting, media planning, and business operations for global brands, including leading international organizations and UN agencies.

Focusing on the intersections of intercultural communication and migration, her doctoral research investigated the complex social dynamics of the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. Grounded in their lived experiences, her research examines how displaced individuals across different age and gender groups navigate diverse adaptation strategies, negotiate their identities, and foster a sense of belonging.
