Dr. Md Al Amin Sheikh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB). He earned his B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Asia Pacific (UAP), Bangladesh, in 2017. Following his undergraduate studies, he was awarded the prestigious Taylor’s Research Excellence Scholarship and pursued Master of Science and Engineering at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, where he graduated in 2021.
In 2021, Dr. Sheikh joined the University of Tsukuba, Japan, as a research assistant in the laboratory of Professor Hiromi Yanagisawa and enrolled in the Ph.D. program in humanics under the School of Integrative and Global Majors (SIGMA). During his doctoral studies, he was awarded the highly competitive Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellowship for Young Scientists (DC1) and received Grants-in-Aid for Scientific Research (KAKENHI), one of Japan’s most prestigious research funding programs. He completed his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences in March 2026.
Dr. Sheikh’s research interests span vascular biology, computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical imaging, and mechine learning applications in healthcare. His doctoral research focused on elucidating the structural and molecular mechanisms underlying aortic dissection through the integration of synchrotron imaging, single-cell transcriptomics, and advanced computational analysis.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Sheikh has actively participated in numerous international conferences and scientific meetings in Bangladesh, Malaysia, Japan, and the United States. His contributions have been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the JSPS DC1 Fellowship, the Excellent Speaker Award, the On-site Poster Travel Award from the American Society for Matrix Biology (ASMB), and the Best Poster Presentation Award at an IEEE international conference.
In addition to his research accomplishments, Dr. Sheikh completed the Tutor Development Programme at Taylor’s University and served as an associate tutor, teaching mathematics to Foundation in Science and Computing students. He remains committed to excellence in teaching, research, and student mentorship.
Dr. Sheikh has authored and co-authored several peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals. His recent research has been published in Circulation Research (Impact Factor: 16.2) and Scientific Reports (Impact Factor: 3.9), contributing to the understanding of vascular disease mechanisms and translational biomedical research
