Md. Sharafat Chowdhury is a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Studies and Sustainability (ESS). He has over seven years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, geospatial analysis, climate change, and environmental modelling. He has authored over twenty peer-reviewed publications, and has contributed to research aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG-17). His academic and research expertise includes GIS-based machine & deep learning models, geostatistical analysis, hydrological modeling, morphometric analysis, climate data modelling.
He has led and collaborated on nationally and internationally funded research projects supported by the ICT Division, & DoE, Government of Bangladesh, and World Bank, GIZ etc. Also he was part of several researches at Center for Sustainable Development (CSD), ULAB, focusing on coastal stewardship, localization of climate action, displacement induced vulnerability, ecosystem services, and sustainable environmental management.
