CQS joins the “Social Science platform for Covid 19, Bangladesh”

In the context of  unprecedented Covid 19 global outbreak in 2020 that has hit Bangladesh as well, a  group of researchers formed a ‘Social Science platform for Covid 19, Bangladesh’, acknowledging the fact that disease outbreak transmits through social routes and it requires social science knowledge to understand the nature of the problem and inform solutions. Dr. Sumon Rahman, Director, Centre for Critical and Qualitative Studies (CQS) is a member of the platform along with Dr. Imran Matin, BRAC Institute of Development and Governance (BIGD) and Mr. Mridul Chowdhury, mPower Social Enterprises Limited.

The platform is led by Dr. Shahaduz Zaman, Department to Global Health and Infection, University Sussex. This is to note that CQS is a collaborative partner of University of Sussex. The platform has initiated two projects:

  1. Designing a context-specific BCC material to respond Covid 19
  2. Developing a web repository of various informal non-state initiatives in response to the Covid 19 outbreak
