DEH Online Seminar Series Launched
Department of English & Humanities, ULAB, launches Online Seminar Series
The Department of English and Humanities (DEH) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has launched an online seminar series for its Summer 2020 semester. The inaugural session was held on Thursday, July 16, 2020 with a presentation by Dr. Syeda Farzana Sultana, from the Warner School of Education, University of Rochester, USA. The timely topic, “Teaching in the Time of Disruption: Understanding the Design and Implementation of Effective Online Courses,” focused on the usefulness of online teaching and its various challenges, solutions, and possibilities.
The speaker, introduced by Professor Shamsad Mortuza, Pro Vice-Chancellor of ULAB and the Head of the Department, quickly developed the session into an engaging, interactive one with enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members. The seminar’s topic drew audience members not only from the English department but from other departments of the university and guests as well.
The seminar series has an exciting line up of local and international scholars who will share their expertise in different areas of English Studies. This series is intended to ensure some positive outcomes from the pandemic coupled with hopes of nurturing an appreciation for scholarship and research in students and academics alike.
The seminar series has been organized by Dr. Sohana Manzoor, Associate Professor, and Nishat Atiya Shoilee, Lecturer, of the Department of English and Humanities at ULAB.
