IEEE ULAB SB WIE Affinity Group in association with Department of EEE organized a webinar titled “Webinar on Cyber Security: Current Trends and Future Directions” on August 20, 2020 via online platform.

In this time of global pandemic, when more and more people are relying on virtual platforms, the number of cyber-crimes and threats are increasingly massive. With proper knowledge, this problem can be easily averted. Moreover, when the whole world is facing job crisis, there is still lack of experts in cyber security field to protect millions of users from this vulnerability.

Total 42 students from EEE, ETE, CSE, BBA, DEH and MSJ Department and distinguished faculty members joined in this webinar. The speaker was Dr. Mohammad Shahriar Rahman. Dr. Rahman has over 10 years of teaching and research experience, within both academia and industry, resulting over 40 research papers and patents on cyber security and privacy. He worked at KDDI Research in Japan from 2015 to 2017 as a research engineer. His research ranges from secure protocol construction to security modeling in order to solve real-world problems in Cyber Security domain. He also focuses on privacy as an information security paradigm in an increasingly knowledge-based connected world facilitated by the Internet of Things (IoT), Fintech and cloud computing. He was an expert member of the Japanese national body for International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC 27.

Dr. Tama Fouzder, Assistant Professor, Department of EEE and Advisor of IEEE ULAB SB WIE Affinity Group encouraged students to participate in this event.
