EEE Freshers’ Orientation – Summer 2021

The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized “Freshers’ Orientation – Summer 2021,” on 1 July 2021 at 4:00 pm on the Google Meet platform. The presence of Prof. Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to BoT and Dean, USB; Prof. Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Acting Vice-Chancellor of ULAB; Dr. Celia Shahnaz, Professor, Department of EEE, BUET and Chair IEEE Bangladesh Section; and Prof. Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain, Dean, School of Science and Engineering (SSE) and Head, of EEE, graced the program. All the faculty members of EEE, the admin officer, alumni, current students, and freshers attended the program. The program started with the welcome address by Prof. M. Mofazzal Hossain. He introduced the EEE Department and discussed the importance and prospects of studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE). All the speakers welcomed the new students to ULAB, encouraged and motivated the freshers through their speeches. Prof. Shamsad Mortuza emphasized breaking the psychological barrier of confined and subject-oriented learning. Prof. Imran Rahman spoke about the contributions of electrical engineers to technological advancement, and he also emphasized lifelong learning. Prof. Celia Shanaz encouraged the students to focus on technological innovation through research work for the betterment of society. She urged students to “think globally and act locally”. She also persuaded students to be a member of IEEE for their professional development. On behalf of the ETE-EEE Alumni Association Engr. Md. Rafsun A Jan talked about the importance of extra- and co-curricular activities for students. Aranya Apsara, a fresher of the EEE department, shared her feelings about joining the Dept. of EEE, ULAB. Dr. Mirza Rasheduzzaman, Coordinator of the EEE program, delivered the vote of thanks at the end of the event. After the first session, ULAB Electronics and Robotics Club (UERC), IEEE Student Branch (SB) ULAB, IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) ULAB, and IEEE Computer Society presented their activities. Mr. Shameem Hasan, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE and Advisor, UERC encouraged freshers to join and participate in various club activities and welcomed the freshers in the Department. The second session concluded with a cultural program where the members of ULAB Electronics and Robotics Club (UERC) performed for the freshers.
