ULAB Signs MoU with UIN Walisongo, Indonesia

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Walisongo State Islamic University (UIN Walisongo), Indonesia, on 8 July 2021, to work together to establish cooperation regarding three pillars of Higher Education—i.e., Teaching & Learning, Research, and Community Development.

The MoU was signed by the ULAB Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza and the Rector of UIN Walisongo Professor Dr. Imam Taufiq. Appreciating the collaboration, Professor Mortuza said, “We share the same vision in affirming our ties and identity as Asian Nations. Hopefully, our young generation will realize the importance of our cultures, so they will try to preserve the civilization and noble cultures of Asia.” On a similar note, Professor Taufiq highlighted, “We hope that UIN Walisongo and ULAB are committed to carrying out productive cooperation, for example, in optimizing access to literature by developing open literature access or joint libraries, research collaborations and publications as well as indexation of journals.”The MoU will bring together both the universities to hold various collaborative activities, starting with holding an international conference on democracy and the social transformation of humanity, and the changing social and political landscape in the post-pandemic time.

The ceremony commenced with the observance of national anthems of both countries, followed by the introductory videos of ULAB and UIN Walisongo. Among others, the Deans and Rectors, Treasurer, Registrar, departmental heads and vice-rectors, and administrative officials from both the universities were present.
