CSE hosts seminar on Cyber Security
The department of CSE organized a saminar on "Introduction to Cyber Security Practices and Challenges" on 8th September at the ULAB campus. The seminar was conducted by Professor Mohammad Shahriar Rahman who is currently with the department of CSE, UIU. Also, he is the Director of the Center for IT Services of the same university. His experience over the years, within both academia and industry, results in over 60 research papers and patents on cyber security and privacy. Prof. Shahriar's research ranges from secure protocol construction to security modeling in order to solve real-world problems in the Cyber Security domain. He has been providing consultancy services to both industry and academia. In this talk Prof. Shahriar introduced cyber security and blockchain. He discussed how cyber security and privacy go hand in hand in an increasingly knowledge-based connected world facilitated by the Blockchain, Healthcare, Smart Grid, Smart Cities, Internet of Things (IoT) and Cloud Computing. The seminar was attended by the Dean of School of Science and Engineering, the acting Head of CSE, IT Director, faculty members and students of the department.
