A. F. M. Moniruzzaman Shipu, Assistant Professor of the Media Studies and Journalism department at ULAB, participated in the 12th Annual Global Week from October 7 to October 16, organized by Chitkara University in Chandigarh, India. As a guest faculty for the Annual Global Week, he conducted eight credit-based classes on Augmented Virtual Reality, sharing his expertise and knowledge with the students of the User Experience (UX/UI) department at Chitkara University.

Mr. Moniruzzaman Shipu was one of around 75 faculty members from 40 universities around the globe participating in the Annual Global Week. While it primarily functioned as an event promoting a cross-cultural experience for the students of Chitkara University and the visiting faculty, it also allowed students to experience a global perspective of higher education, further developing their academic futures. Besides conducting classes for students, he also participated in visiting culturally significant landmarks in Chandigarh alongside the other visiting faculties.

As ULAB is a partner university in the ERASMUS+ funded HARMONY project, the mobility of faculty members is a priority for the university as it aims to further the internationalization of higher education. The mobility of faculty is an enriching experience both for the students and the visiting faculty member. It provides an avenue for cross-cultural understanding, building institutional relationships, developing strong international networks, and exposing students and teachers to different pedagogical styles. Mr. Moniruzzaman Shipu’s role as a guest faculty for the Annual Global week at Chitkara University is among the first of many such undertakings planned as part of the staff mobility plan for the internationalization of higher education at ULAB.

In 2021, ULAB joined the prestigious HARMONY program, partnering with ten other Asian and European universities. Under this program, the partner universities will promote educational and academic excellence through study visits, student exchanges, joint research, lectures, and training sessions.
