C-SAS Director Sudeep Chakravarti was invited to speak at an exclusive Policy Circle discussion on Myanmar ("Is Myanmar Unraveling? Implications for Bangladesh and the Region") organized by Bangladesh Institute of Peace and Security Studies on 22 February 2024 in Dhaka.

Chakravarti joined a panel that comprised Ambassador Md Touhid Hossain, former Foreign Secretary of Bangladesh, and Major General Md Shahidul Haque (Retd), a former Defence Attache of Bangladesh in Myanmar and former ambassador to Libya.

In his talk and during the subsequent Q&A session with the select audience that comprised top policymakers, members of the diplomatic corps, and senior editors, Chakravarti frankly discussed the fast-changing political and geopolitical landscape in Myanmar and mapped the near-term and medium-term futures for Myanmar as well implications for Myanmar's neighbours -- Bangladesh, India, China and Thailand -- and emerging local and regional dynamics. He also outlined possible courses of action with regard to the Rohingya refugee crisis.

It is heartening to note that several speakers and participants voiced analyses and projections on Myanmar as presented by C-SAS in a series of articles since early 2023. This reflects the impact of C-SAS analyses and suggestions in the local and regional policy spaces.

C-SAS Interns Abrar Farhan Zaman and Zohair Humayun participated in the Policy Circle presentation and subsequent discussions. C-SAS encourages its interns and associates to actively participate in conferences and seminars and engage with all stakeholders -- an exposure we believe will enhance their futures as active local and global citizens and leaders.
