The Spring 2025 Curriculum Integration (CI) Exhibition, themed “Unmasking Network Propaganda,” concluded today at the Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, marking the end of a three-day showcase of student-driven work aimed at dissecting misinformation, surveillance, and the politics of narrative control.

Organized by the Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), the exhibition drew wide attention for its creative approach to exploring media manipulation through multimedia installations, audiovisual projects, performance art, and a symbolic “Trashion Show” that transformed recycled materials into protest art.

On the closing day, the exhibition welcomed Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, acclaimed filmmaker and Adviser to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, as Chief Guest. “We will struggle in the conflict between truth and falsehood, but to move forward, we must accept this reality,” Farooki remarked, highlighting the ongoing relevance of ethical storytelling in combating propaganda.

Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, actress and social activist, served as Guest of Honor and encouraged attendees to take active roles in advocacy and sustainability. “We are all Bangladeshis, and it is our responsibility to build the country. We must spread awareness about using alternatives to plastic so that the message of change reaches every household,” she said.

The student projects reflected a deep engagement with issues of media spectacle and truth distortion. One such project, “The Silent Web,” depicted hidden systems of digital control using stark visual metaphors. Audience members, including visitors from outside academia, praised the event for blending artistic expression with pressing social themes.

Professor Sumon Rahman, Dean of the School of Social Science and Head of the MSJ Department, underscored the broader purpose of the exhibition: “CI is not just an exhibition—it’s an ongoing conversation. Our students are learning to decode media power and respond with intellectual and ethical imagination.”

The event closed with a note of appreciation from A F M Moniruzzaman Shipu, Chair of the CI Committee, recognizing the joint efforts of students, faculty, and partners in creating a meaningful academic-public dialogue.
