The Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ) at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) hosted its Summer 2025 Orientation and Apprenticeship Day on Friday, welcoming a new wave of aspiring media professionals.

The program opened with remarks from Professor Sumon Rahman, Head of the MSJ Department, who encouraged students to embrace creativity and shape the future of storytelling and journalism in Bangladesh.
“We live in a post-truth era where emotion passes for evidence, and misinformation spreads faster than verified facts.” Professor Sumon Rahman, Head, MSJ Department, explained to the freshers.

Freshers were introduced to faculty members and given an overview of the department’s values, student diversity, and academic vision. Sessions were led by Dr. Mohammad Shazzad Hossain, Ms. Syeda Sadia Mehjabin, and Mr. Muhammad Aminuzzaman, covering student demography, departmental mission, and the importance of portfolio-building.

An interactive quiz segment and a vibrant video showcase brought attention to MSJ’s signature apprenticeship and outreach programs.

The event also celebrated student excellence through the Apprenticeship Awards, followed by group advising and a photo session — marking a spirited start to the semester.
