ULAB MSJ Students Reflect on “Revolution & Aftermath”
Curriculum Integration merges learning with creative expression in Summer 2025 showcase

The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), in collaboration with the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, has successfully concluded its Curriculum Integration Exhibition (Summer 2025) at the Jatiya Chitrashala Auditorium, leaving audiences inspired by a powerful exploration of revolution, memory, and renewal.
Organized by ULAB’s Department of Media Studies and Journalism (MSJ), this semester’s exhibition carried the theme “Revolution & Aftermath,” reflecting on trauma, resilience, and the quest for social transformation in post-revolutionary contexts.
The two-day event opened with a Trashion Show, where students turned recycled materials into bold fashion statements carrying urgent social messages. Renowned architect Marina Tabassum hailed the presentation as “a beautifully choreographed expression of a powerful message,” noting that the teamwork and collaboration reminded her of her own experiences in architecture.
The concluding day featured an art exhibition alongside student-made films and documentaries, offering deeply personal reflections on history and contemporary struggles. Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh, praised the works as a testament to the new generation’s vision:
“There is a new wave of democratic forces like never before, which will award Bangladesh with a newly refined democracy. July’s Revolution has empowered every individual, every voice across the nation.”
ULAB’s leadership emphasized the educational and emotional depth of the initiative. Professor Imran Rahman, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, described the exhibition as “a brilliant showcase of creativity and flourishing talents, a perfect example to proudly say: THIS IS ULAB.” Meanwhile, MSJ Department Head Professor Sumon Rahman stressed that Curriculum Integration “encourages students to think critically, work collaboratively, and express their ideas creatively — it bridges classroom learning with real-world relevance.”
This semester’s exhibition featured contributions from 15 courses, with students presenting projects across diverse media — including performance art, installation art, photography, the Trashion Show, and audio-visual productions — transforming academic work into powerful public storytelling.
About the Exhibition
The Curriculum Integration Exhibition is a signature initiative of ULAB’s Department of Media Studies and Journalism, held every semester. It merges academic learning with public engagement, giving students a platform to creatively address pressing social issues through media projects, installations, performances, and public showcases. This semester’s theme, “Revolution & Aftermath,” unfolded across fashion, art, and film, sparking dialogue on history, collective memory, and social responsibility. By bridging classrooms with communities, the exhibition reaffirmed ULAB MSJ’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of thinkers, storytellers, and changemakers ready to shape Bangladesh’s future.
