Workshop on Managing Longform Journalism Projects at ULAB
The Workshop on Managing Longform Journalism Projects was held at ULAB campus on Friday, February 20, 2026. The workshop focused on understanding the planning and execution of longform journalism projects. Renowned investigative journalist Zyma Islam facilitated the session.
Zyma Islam mentioned that we need to have the mindset of moving slowly with patience and persistence while chasing a story. She emphasized on being a good observer too. Citing a few examples including the famous American Podcast series “Serial,” Ms. Zyma said that patience, persistence and passion are the key to investigative journalism, and it feels worthy to spend long time chasing a story as it can change lives.
ULAB organized the workshop in collaboration with Drik as part of the “Ctrl+Alt+Story: Research and Storytelling in Journalism” fellowship program. The current cohort has 21 participants, learning the art of longform storytelling through workshops and masterclasses facilitated by renowned journalists and storytellers. Afterwards, they will pursue investigative journalism projects of their preference with a grant provided by the initiative.
