ULAB Observes Earth Day Through a Three-Day Program
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) successfully celebrated Earth Day 2026 through a vibrant three-day program held from April 20 to April 22, 2026. The event brought together students, faculty members, and a diverse group of national and international experts in a series of engaging activities. The celebration featured a remarkable array of 38 programs, spanning academic dialogues, industry engagements, student-led initiatives, exhibitions, and performances.
The event was enriched by the presence of several distinguished guests and speakers, including senior officials from the Government of Bangladesh, development and research experts, international academics, diplomats, and industry leaders. Notable participants included Mr. Ali Ashfaq, FCA Former Partner, KPMG Bangladesh, Mr. Rakibul Hasan, Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests (DCCF), Sheikh Rokon, Writer, River Researcher; Md Shahid Uddin Akbar, CEO of BIID; Dr. Zheng Li of East China Normal University; Mr. Han Kun, Country Head, PowerChina Bangladesh; Mr. Olle Lundin, Head of Politics and Trade, Swedish Embassy; Sumit Bisarya, Head of Constitutional Governance and Rule of Law at International IDEA, Stockholm, Sweden; Ariful Hasan Opu, CEO e-Soft.
Speaking about the initiative, Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, said, “Earth Day is not just a symbolic observance, but a call to action. Through this three-day program, we aimed to create meaningful dialogue and inspire our students and community to take responsibility for building a sustainable future.”
Cultural performances and live concerts added vibrancy to the event, fostering awareness, dialogue, and community engagement. Through this initiative, ULAB reaffirmed its commitment to environmental responsibility and a sustainable future.
