With sustainability, environmental awareness, and responsible citizenship at the heart of its educational vision, the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a vibrant and engaging program for newly admitted students of the Summer 2026 semester on Thursday, 14 May 2026, at the university campus. Rather than focusing solely on a traditional Freshers’ Orientation Program, ULAB emphasized its commitment to building a sustainable and socially responsible university community through innovative initiatives, interactive sessions, cultural performances, and student engagement activities involving both students and their families.

A major highlight of the orientation was the presentation of the “1 Seed Box – 5 Global Goals” initiative by Vice Chancellor Prof. Shamsad Mortuza, PhD. Under this initiative, every fresher received a special Seed Box containing all the necessary materials to grow a Bakul flower plant. Encouraging students to actively engage with nature, the Vice Chancellor invited them to nurture the plants and share their personal stories and experiences of growing the Bakul flowers. To support this initiative, ULAB has launched a dedicated segment on its website where students can document and share their individual journeys of growing the saplings. The session also featured an introduction to Essential Skills, reinforcing ULAB’s vision of innovation, responsible citizenship, and experiential learning.

The program began with an interactive ice-breaking session organized by the Student Affairs Office (SAO) Team, followed by the formal inauguration ceremony where Pro Vice Chancellor Jude William Genilo, PhD, shared insights on ULAB’s academic vision, student development initiatives, and achievements in global rankings. He particularly highlighted ULAB’s remarkable success in the prestigious World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI).  where the university earned global recognition for its innovative approach to higher education. The orientation concluded with cultural performances by ULAB Sangskriti Sangsad, various ULAB clubs, and band performances by Grave Chant and Antonagar, creating an engaging and inspiring environment for the freshers as they officially began their academic journey at ULAB.
