ULAB Hosts Celebration of the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China
The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), in collaboration with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh and the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, organized a cultural celebration at the ULAB campus to mark the 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China under the theme "Great Journey, Shared Future," while also commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Victory of the Long March on Wednesday, July 1, 2026.
The day-long celebration featured a Photo and Video Exhibition, a Book Exhibition, and a Chinese Traditional Culture Display, offering participants valuable insights into China's history, governance, and cultural heritage. ULAB students, faculty and staff members also experienced demonstrations of traditional Chinese arts, including calligraphy and paper-cutting.
The opening ceremony featured cultural performances by the Shanghai Chinese Choir of the Confucius Institute, along with a Guzheng recital. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Shamsad Mortuza, PhD, Vice Chancellor of ULAB, said the celebration reflected the shared commitment of Bangladesh and China to strengthening friendship, cultural exchange, and mutual understanding through education and people-to-people connections.
The event concluded with a lecture titled "The Story of the Communist Party of China," delivered by Mr. Li Shaopeng, Culture Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh. In his presentation, he highlighted the historical contributions of the Communist Party of China, the significance of the Victory of the Long March, China's development journey, the country's social and cultural identity, and the enduring friendship and cooperation between China and Bangladesh.
Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Yang Hui, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, Ms. Huang Moucong, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bangladesh, along with Chinese delegates and performing artists. Representing ULAB were Prof. Jude William Genilo, PhD, Pro Vice Chancellor; Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, PhD, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees & Treasurer; Lt. Col. Md. Foyzul Islam (Retd.), Registrar; as well as Deans of various schools, department heads, faculty members, students and staff members.
The celebration provided ULAB students with a valuable opportunity to learn more about China's history, culture, and traditions through exhibitions, cultural performances, and interactive activities.
