The course studies fiction as one of the main genres of creative writing and emphasizes on composing fiction. It prepares you for upper level creative writing courses in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. The course is designed as a workshop where the basic characteristics of genre are introduced through some sample texts to encourage students to write a piece of fiction (e.g. the drafting of a short story).
