He is a historian. Apart from historical studies he is interested in critical theory and Marxism. He was educated in Dhaka and Leiden University, with prestigious Encompas Scholarship. He has authored a number of academic articles. He has presented papers in several national and international conferences among which include Center for South Asian Studies, Hawaii University, USA and Bangladesh Itihas Samiti and Itihas Sammiloni. He has published a book titled The Seventeenth Century Dutch Travel Literature and the Production of Knowledge on Asia (2013). Currently He is researching on Communalism in Pakistan (East Bengal, 1947-1955) and Indigenous history and society.
