Prof. Shahnaj Husne Jahan, PhD

Professor Shahnaj Husne Jahan has twenty five years’ experience teaching art history and archaeology. She has conducted many research projects and participated in numerous archaeological investigations in South and Southeast Asia. Since 2008 she has been excavating Bhitargarh archaeological site, the largest fortified settlement in Bangladesh where she has not only unearthed significant structural remains but also developed various strategies to stimulate public interest in heritage preservation and management as well as to practice sustainable tourism. She is regularly organizing heritage festival, seminar, workshop, discussion forum, training program and educational tour for preserving and promoting cultural heritage of Bangladesh. She is also involved in educating archaeology to the children and local communities in and around archaeological sites. Currently, she is a professor of archaeology, founder director of the Center for Archaeological Studies and the head of the Department of General Education at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).
