IEEE ULAB Women In Engineering Tech Fest 2018

IEEE ULAB Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a two-day long tech fest from 11th – 12th December, 2018. Dr. Lafifa Jamal, Associate professor and chairman, department of Robotics and Mechatronics engineering, Dhaka University inaugurated the ceremony at ULAB Campus B. The participants of this Tech fest were the students of engineering departments of ULAB.

The main sessions of this fest were poster display, project showcasing, graphic designing contest and women interaction session. Engineering students displayed their tech based ideas at poster display, presented gaming projects, software and hardware based projects at project showcasing. Women Interaction Session was conducted by Rianon Zaman, counselor of IEEE ULAB WIE along with the students and guests.

The panelists of the session were Nasima Akter Nisha, managing director Reverie Corporation Ltd., Achia Nila, CEO and Founder of Women in Digital and Dr. Farhana Sarker, Assistant Professor and Course Coordinator, CSE, ULAB. They shared their experience about women empowerment, obstacles and opportunities. From their experience they also shared how to to overcome those obstacles.

ULAB Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Chairman of IBM Education Services Md. Iqbal Hossain and all the faculty members of CSE department of ULAB were present in the closing ceremony. ULAB Pro VC along with head of the department and senior professors handed over the prizes to the winners. The session ended with the vote of thanks to our guest and all the participants by Dr. Nafees Mansoor and Rianon Zaman, counselor, IEEE ULAB Student branch and IEEE ULAB Women in Engineering respectively.
