The Department of English and Humanities (DEH) introduced the Curriculum Integration (CI) program from Fall 2019. The purpose of this program involves engaging students with a theoretical/ critical concept so that they learn to apply it in the courses that they are currently enrolled in.

For the Fall 2019 semester, the chosen theme was Power and the program was titled “The World is a Text”: Learning Beyond Classrooms. On November 7, 2019 at 2:30pm, the First Forum was held in the auditorium, where Prof. Syed Manzoorul Islam and Prof. Shamsad Mortuza discussed the key areas related to “power.”

The Second Forum, entitled “Different Expressions of Power,” was held on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Campus A Auditorium. The speakers were Professor Shaila Sultana, Dr. Sohana Manzoor, and Towhidul Islam Khan. They discussed how Foucault’s concept of power can be applied in various contexts.

Class projects (e.g. presentation, performances, video-films, parody, academic paper, debate) assigned by course teachers on a text from the syllabus, using the theoretical lens of power discussed in the two forums were completed and presented.

Final presentations were held on January 2, 2020.
