He was awarded with Fulbright Scholarship of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) - Bangladesh Scheme for Master of Performing Arts (M.P.A) in Theatre from Bangalore University, Bangalore, India. He completed his MA & BA in Bangla from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is affiliated with Cultural Organizations and Theatre. He directed 10 plays at home and abroad, and participated in more than 20 plays. His translation work `Folktales of Ordisa' is Published in The Daily Bangla Tribune. Mr. Islam has diverse experience in teaching and administrative work in different level of educational institutions from Pre-Primary to University. As an Educator, he bestowed his knowledge in several renowned colleges both in Bangladesh and outside. He taught Functional Bangla at Daffodil International University. He worked as the Principal of Tarar Mela Ishan Memorial School, Faridpur, before joining as a Bangla Bhasha O Shahitya (BBS) Lecturer at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh.
